Makita recipro saw blade B-03030, for fast rough cuts in thick wood. Universal shank, fitting Makita reciprocating saws and other sabre saws with a standard fitting.
What it is for
Getting through heavy timber quickly. Beams, sleepers, posts, tree work and strip-out where the cut face will never be seen. The tooth pitch is deliberately coarse and widely spaced so the gullets carry sawdust out of a deep cut instead of packing solid — which is what causes a finer blade to bind and stall halfway through thick stock.
Working with it
- Clean timber only. This is a wood blade; a hidden nail will take the teeth off it. For nail-embedded wood use a bi-metal demolition blade.
- Let it run. Forcing a coarse blade makes the saw bounce rather than cutting faster.
- Keep the shoe planted against the timber throughout the cut.
- Expect a rough edge. That is the trade for the speed.
- Green and wet timber clogs faster, so back out occasionally to clear the gullets.
