Makita recipro saw blade B-07250, special purpose, for stainless steel plate and pipe and for fibreglass. Sold as a pack of two. Universal shank, fitting Makita reciprocating saws and other sabre saws with a standard fitting.
Stainless is a different problem
Stainless work-hardens. Rub it instead of cutting it and the surface becomes harder than the blade, at which point no amount of pressure will get you through. That is why a blade that handles mild steel happily can fail completely in stainless, and why this one is specified separately.
How to cut it
- Slow and firm. Keep the teeth biting; the moment they start rubbing, the material hardens against you.
- Do not pause mid-cut with the blade running against the surface.
- Cutting fluid earns its keep here more than on any other material.
- Fibreglass is abrasive rather than hard — it blunts blades steadily and throws dust that you do not want to breathe. Mask up.
