Makita recipro saw blade B-16835, bi-metal, for metal and pipe. Universal shank, fitting Makita reciprocating saws and other sabre saws with a standard fitting.
The everyday metal blade
This is the general-purpose bi-metal blade most people reach for: conduit, copper and steel pipe, angle, threaded rod, light section and brackets. Bi-metal construction welds a high-speed steel cutting edge onto a flexible spring steel back, which is the combination that lets a blade cut steel without the teeth shattering or the blade snapping when it flexes.
Cutting pipe cleanly
- Start the cut on the shoulder of the pipe, not the flat top, so the teeth engage gradually.
- Keep three teeth in contact. On thin-wall conduit this is what prevents the teeth catching and tearing off.
- Support the offcut. Pipe that drops as you break through will pinch the blade.
- Moderate speed. Heat is what ends a metal blade, not the number of cuts.
