Makita recipro saw blade B-43147, heavy duty bi-metal, for fast cuts in thick sheet metal. Universal shank, fitting Makita reciprocating saws and other sabre saws with a standard fitting.
What it is for
Bi-metal construction puts a hardened high-speed steel cutting edge on a flexible spring steel body. That combination is what lets a blade cut steel without the teeth shattering and without the blade snapping the first time it flexes in the cut. This one is built for thicker material — plate, box section, heavy pipe and structural offcuts.
Working with metal
- Keep at least three teeth in contact with the material at all times, or the blade will snatch and strip teeth.
- Run a slower speed. Heat is what kills a metal blade, not the cutting itself.
- Keep the shoe pressed firmly against the work so the saw does not bounce.
- A little cutting fluid noticeably extends blade life on thick steel.
