Makita recipro saw blade B-43212, heavy duty bi-metal, for fast cuts in thick sheet metal. Universal shank, fitting Makita reciprocating saws and other sabre saws with a standard fitting.
What it is for
The bi-metal build combines a high-speed steel cutting edge with a flexible spring steel back, so the blade cuts hardened material without the teeth breaking away and survives being flexed in the cut. This is the longer-reach option in the heavy duty metal range, for plate, heavy pipe, box section and structural steel.
Working with metal
- Three teeth in the cut, minimum. Fewer and the blade snatches and loses teeth.
- Slow the saw down. Heat, not the cutting, is what ends a metal blade.
- Keep the shoe pressed to the work so the saw cuts instead of hammering.
- Cutting fluid is worth using on anything thick.
If you are cutting thinner sheet or pipe, a shorter, finer blade will cut faster and last longer than this one.
