Makita recipro saw blade B-43234, heavy duty, for wood, metal and chipboard. Universal shank, fitting Makita reciprocating saws and other sabre saws with a standard fitting.
The demolition blade
This is the blade to leave in the saw during strip-out, when you do not know what the next cut will contain. Timber, nails, screws, brackets, chipboard and the occasional length of conduit all come at you in the same wall, and stopping to change blades for each one costs more than the blade does.
It will not cut wood as fast as a dedicated coarse wood blade, and it will not last as long in steel as a fine metal blade. What it will do is keep going through all of it without being destroyed.
Worth knowing
- Chipboard and MDF are abrasive — the glue blunts blades faster than solid timber does.
- Keep the shoe against the work. Demolition cutting is where saws bounce most, and bouncing is what snaps blades.
- Scan or check for live services before cutting blind into a wall.
- Run a moderate speed. Hitting a nail at full speed is what takes the teeth off.
