Makita abrasive belts for the 9902 and 9903 belt sanders, sold in packs of three.
What they fit
These belts are sized for the 9902 and 9903 belt sanders. Belt sanders are unforgiving about belt size — a belt that is even slightly off will not track and will run off the rollers under load, so check the machine model before ordering rather than the belt width alone.
Choosing a grit
- Coarse — stock removal, levelling, stripping old finish. Leaves scratches you will need to sand out.
- Medium — the general working grit for most timber.
- Fine — preparing a surface for finishing.
Work through the grits in order rather than jumping. A belt sander removes material far faster than most people expect, so keep it moving and never let it sit in one spot.
Making belts last
Most belts are thrown away clogged rather than worn out. A crepe rubber cleaning stick held against a running belt lifts the packed dust and resin out of the grit and will often double the working life, particularly on resinous timber.
